What to Wear for Senior Portraits: Guys

Here are just a few of my senior guys from the Class of 2017! Although you guys may not be as thrilled about your senior photos as the girls, I promise it is possible to have a great time at a photo session! What to wear is just as important for the guys as it is for the girls, since these are photos you will look back on for years to come. Here’s our best tips for helping you look like the proud graduate you are:

-Bring a variety of clothes, with several different styles. Consider bringing a classic sweater or button down, an outfit with an everyday look, a sports uniform, etc. Layers are the best way to get a few different looks with just a couple of pieces, like a blazer. Even if you wear jeans and a tee shirt every day, try a nice button down for a more polished look.

-Wear solid colors, and steer clear of busy prints: Solid, earthy and dark colors will accentuate your facial features and expressions, and not detract from you. Try choosing things that show your personal taste and character, including accessories like hats, your favorite shoes, and your sports equipment.

-Please bring dark t-shirts to wear under dark shirts & sweaters and light t-shirts to wear under light shirts & sweaters. A contrasting undershirt does not look good and is distracting in the final images.

What to Wear for Senior Photos – Girls

High School Senior portraits are an once-in-a-lifetime event. You’ve probably been thinking about this day for a long time, and one of the questions you are sure to ask is, “What do I wear?” Here are a few tips on what to bring and what to wear!

-Bring a variety of clothes. Try to include clothes from other seasons; just because it is summer, doesn’t mean that you can’t bring a great sweater or a pair of boots to get an “Autumn” look. Layers are always a great way to get a few different looks. Try to capture your personal style in what you bring.

-Solid colors are a great choice. Remember that darker, earthy colors will show off your face the best, and bright colors will distract. Try to steer clear of large, busy patterns, but small and subtle patterns like florals can look beautiful.

-Don’t be afraid to accessorize! Especially if you wear solid colors, accessories are the perfect way to add some of your personal taste, whether it’s vintage, sophisticated, or classic.  Scarves, hats, and fun jewelry can add visual interest, as well as props like guitars or sports equipment.

-Be sure to try on everything before you go, and walk in front of a large mirror and in front of a light source to make sure it all fits right and isn’t see-through. Bring appropriate undergarments, such as a strapless nude bra so no straps peek out.

How to use Custom Portraiture to Decorate Your Home

One of the benefits of hiring a professional photographer is that you get customized help in choosing products and images for your home, walls, or office space. I can use my years of experience to help you customize your portraits or a college of images. Over the time I’ve been a photographer, I have learned what images and sizes look best on certain walls in your home. I also help you get the highest quality products that are available on the market. You can choose from framed wall portraits, framed & matted wall portraits, framed canvas prints, and canvas gallery wraps.

Together, we will choose the portraits that work best together to tell your story and choose the best product and sizes that will look great in your room. I will show you different options when you send me images of your wall space. I will then custom design your gallery, and show you exactly what it would look like on your wall! Just follow the instructions below. I am looking forward to creating something you will cherish forever!
