Now is the time of year when families are together. I thought that I would give you some tips for taking better family photos.
Choose your background carefully. If it is too busy, it will distract from the subjects, your family! Watch for things growing out of the subjects heads, you don’t want to give anyone an extra set of horns. 🙂
To draw the attention to the faces, keep the clothing simple, no stripes or patterns. Bare arms can also be distracting. Keep the clothing in the same formality and lightness or darkness. You don’t need to look like a team with matching uniforms, but things should flow together like a well decorated room or an outfit that was put together nicely.
Bring your group closer together and vary the heights of their heads. Otherwise it can look like a lineup. Try not to get any one person too close to the camera. What ever is closest to the camera will look the biggest. I try to be the furthest from the camera!
Enjoy your family!
