What should we wear?
Let’s start with what style. Do you like traditional, contemporary, modern, formal or casual? Do you imagine your family in front of a grand piano, standing in a field of grasses, on your boat or in an urban setting? Do you want everyone looking at the camera smiling or interacting with each other and laughing? Are you a jeans family or like your clothing more tailored and formal? Dark tones tend to have a more dramatic, classic feel while light colors tend to look more casual and contemporary. When choosing clothing for a family portrait, start with two or three colors. They should coordinate, but not all outfits have to have all the colors in them. The blue of jeans doesn’t count (dark jeans are my favorite), neither does white or cream if they are an accent in a shirt or worn under something. Don’t mix casual and formal. I find that accessories like scarves and jewelry can be the starting point for choosing your colors. Some color combinations ideas are grey, black and red, orange, green and brown, blue, brown and purple, green and purple, grey and black, beige and brown, pink and brown, yellow and blue etc.. I always start with mom’s outfit first! Check out my idea board on Pinterest. http://www.pinterest.com/lorridowns/what-to-wear-for-photos/
How do I see my images?
Approximately 1-2 weeks after your session, a viewing/ordering appointment will be scheduled. Anyone who will be significant in your purchase decisions should be present for this, as your order will be placed at this time. Senior Portrait clients will also have a proof book for their ordering.
Is it okay to copy, scan or screen capture my pictures?
Never, all images are protected by Federal Copyright and it is illegal to reproduce them in any form. If requested, I will be happy to provide you with a free watermarked/web sized file of each image you order. These are perfect for Facebook, email, Instagram or other social media sharing. Please remember not to crop out the logo or add any filters or other changes to the image.
How long does it take to receive my ordered portraits?
Quality takes time. Please allow 4-6 weeks for your order to be completed. Custom items may take longer. We look at your portraits as an investment and an heirloom that we do not want to rush. Painted canvas wall art can take longer, but it’s worth the wait.
